Your customers are using more mobile devices every day and your web presence must be accessible. But how do you do that? There are multiple ways to be on mobile, mobile web, mobile app and within each multiple issues with mobile browsers, devices, and operating systems. Daniel Shipton, CEO and founder of BitMethod, wants to quell the confusio
n and simplify the choices when he presents “Straight Talk about Mobile” at the January BIZ luncheon, January 18, 2012.
In a world that is going app crazy, Shipton, risking charges of heresy, wants you to know that “apps are not for everyone.” What’s important is making information available to the consumer on their mobile device. There are a myriad of means – many of which are low cost and do-it-yourself in nature.
“We’ve got some tips and tricks for anyone looking to connect with their consumer on the go, and this presentation will help you determine what works best for your business.” Shipton wants you to know it’s about sharing information with the consumer in the simplest way possible.
The focus on simplification is no surprise. Shipton’s accomplished career has centered on his self-described “drive to simplify,” beginning with his many years in the I.S.U. Virtual Reality lab. There, his focus was “breaking down the barrier between the keyboard, screen and your mind.”
This drive to make programing more intuitive, coupled with a respect for the power that can be tapped when working in close proximity to others of like mind, led to a series of successful start-ups culminating in the founding of his current venture, BitMethod. BitMethod builds digital products including web applications, mobile applications and websites while providing consultation and training to others seeking to go mobile on their own.
So, if your business plan for 2012 calls for you to be “Goin Mobile” with the information your consumer needs in the simplest (and least expensive) fashion, you could use a little “Straight Talk” in January.
